I'd like to start off with an apology for my late arrival for yesterday's post. Secondly I'd like to point out that this is a scam!

First - that ain't Gretchen! Since she's only 29 and the photo is from '86 that would mean that she was only 6. Although most MonT's are the size of most 6 year old's, Gretchen is only a MonT by association.

Now asides from the "Flash Dance" outfit on whomever is posing as Gretchen I gotta say that the whole bike is close but NOT completely vintage '86. Note the Suntour BarCons if you will - the non-indexed version was introduced over 10 years earlier. Same could be said about the Campagnolo brake levers. (now the bike pictured today is TmonT's ass is evidenced by the Modolo model 919 anatomic hoods on the brake levers).

As this is Merry Olde England, that ain't mountain biking but rather "Rough Stuff Riding" - http://www.rsf.org.uk/ . Notice how the grass is not actually mowed, but cropped by sheep. By the looks of things, I'd say by either a flock of Tamsworths or North Ronaldsays. Most likely sheared to provide the wool for the pictured socks.

excellent views by russell. natrally, the legend that is gretchen used campy levers, and non indexed bar-cons. but - he missed the hite-rite !!

and let me state tis diplomatically . . . . if you race in the 35-39 AG - even if you just aged out of it to 40+ by a year . . . . gretchen coulda been your 8th grade english teacher - so that is "Mrs MonT" to you kids.

I highly doubt Mrs monT could be mistaken for my 8th grade eng teacher / wrestling coach.

This makes me wonder if I have '97 photos of bikin' in the alps. (mind you on cruddy rentals, but biking all the same)
